Create a Speech Bubble Graphic

In this tutorial we’re going to show you how to create a cool looking speech bubble

1. Open up a new document, mine is 400×400 with a white background and 72 dpi resolution.

2. Create a new layer and use the rounded rectangle tool to draw a rectangle on your layer. Match your settings as pictured below, you can set radius to anything over 10 pixels depending on how rounded you want the corners of the bubble to appear.

Create your shape with the rounded rectangle tool and these settings:

3. Next, we’ll use the pen tool to draw a shape for the starting point of our speech bubble. Make sure your pen settings are set as pictured so this shape is drawn as a path.

4. Next, create a new layer then select the path selection tool from your toolbox.

With the path selection tool click on the rectangle path to select it, then hold the shift key and click on your direction path to select it as well.

With both paths selected, right click anywhere in the document and select Fill Path from the context menu. In the ‘Use’ dropdown list, select color and pick the color of your choose from the color picker. Our example is using white (#ffffff).

5. Next, open the blending options for our new layer and apply the following:

Drop Shadow

Bevel and Emboss

Gradient Overlay Notice the colors the gradient fades from (#DADADA - #FFFFFF)

Stroke

Our finished result! I’ve added some text in mine. Happy photoshopping!
